Grammar: Past Progressive – Parallel Actions

• Use the past progressive when two actions are happening at the same time and don’t interrupt (stop) each other.

• We don’t know which action started first. It’s not important.

• Both the first action and the second action are in the past progressive tense, and they are almost always joined by the word “while“.

I was reading a book while you were watching TV.
