As you learned in previous units, Americans tend to contract words a lot, even when it’s not grammatically correct. Americans also tend to link words to say them faster, but this can make it hard to understand what words are being said. There are three ways words are usually linked.
Listen to the following sentences from the dialogue. Write down the words that sound linked, and write the words the way that they sound. Then practice the pronunciation of each sentence.
