6 – Grammar: There Is/There Are

There is” and “there are” tell us something is in a place. We use “there is” for singular nouns. We use “there are” for plural nouns. Look at the charts. Then do the exercises that follow.

A. Use “is” or “are” to complete each sentence. The first one is done for you.

B. Complete the sentences below the pictures with the correct form of “there is” or “there are”. Be careful because some of the sentences use the negative form! The first one is done for you.

  1. There is a pen
