In the dialogue, Pedro said, “All I did was hang out with my friends and spend time with my family.” You probably know the word “all” to mean “everything”: “I have all the textbooks for class.” But “all” can also mean “only”. Look at the following examples. Then do the exercise that follows.
The construction for this meaning is “All” + S + V (+O) + “be verb” + (O). “All” must come at the beginning of the clause before the S and V; it is connected to both the S and V. Look at the following examples.
