Suffixes can change the way a word acts. In this unit, you learned the words “intelligence” and “independence.” They are both nouns that talk about a “state of being …” – intelligence is the state of being smart, and independence is the state of being free. These words can be made into adjectives by changing the suffixes ence/ance to ent/ant. Fill in the chart below with the correct adjectives.
