4 – Pronunciation: Review of Auxilaries

In English auxiliary verbs (often referred to as helping verbs) are used in combination with verbs to show tense. Many times, especially in spoken English, these auxiliaries are contracted with another word, usually a pronoun. Listen to some examples from the dialogue.

Speakers often also reduce auxiliary verbs when combined with nouns and question words, even though the contraction does not appear in written form. Look at the following statements and listen to the speakers. Repeat each sentence from the dialogue after the speaker.
